Descripción

Go on a hiking tour surrounded by nature, visit caves, encounter Brazilian wildlife, and swim in paradise-like waterfalls.
Discover a side of Rio de Janeiro that goes far beyond the beaches and traditional tourist attractions. In this experience, we will enter the Tijuca Forest to explore hiking tours through the Atlantic Forest, find waterfalls, visit caves, and observe nature up close, always accompanied by a local guide.

**Meeting point:** Praça Afonso Vizeu, at the entrance to Tijuca National Park.

From the meeting point, we begin our hike through the forest, following paths surrounded by trees, mountains, and lots of vegetation. The route is designed for those who really enjoy hiking and want to have a more intimate experience with nature.

During the adventure, we may pass through some of the most impressive landscapes in the region, including the Taunay Waterfall and different stretches of forest where small waterfalls and natural pools may appear along the way. Depending on the conditions of the hiking tour, the time of year, and the water level, we may visit places such as Cachoeira das Almas or Cachoeira Diamantina.

We will also explore the grotto region, where huge rock formations create a completely different setting within the forest. Among the points that may be part of the route are the Belmiro and Arqueiro caves and the Gruta dos Morcegos.

The forest is also home to many different animal species. During the hike, keep your eyes peeled: you might see monkeys, toucans, sloths, butterflies, and many other species. The animals live freely in the forest, so encounters happen naturally and cannot be guaranteed.

The route can vary between approximately **5 and 15 km**, depending on the itinerary, the conditions of the hiking tour, and the pace of the group. Therefore, this experience is recommended for people who like hiking and are prepared to tackle sections of the hiking tour.

More than just visiting the Tijuca Forest, you will have the opportunity to walk its paths, discover hidden places, enter caves, cool off in natural waters, and get to know the forest through the perspective of those who live and work in Rio.

**Important:** Wear comfortable clothes, hiking shoes, and bring water, sunscreen, and insect repellent. To make the most of the experience, come prepared to walk and, if the itinerary includes a waterfall, to get wet.

**Meeting point at Praça Afonso Vizeu — entrance to Tijuca National Park.**

Come and discover a different Rio de Janeiro: greener, more peaceful, and full of adventure.
