Begin your journey in Sofia and head to the Buzludzha Monument. Built by the Bulgarian communist regime to commemorate an event in 1891, this UFO-shaped building was once the site of many state functions, adorned with Lenin and Marx posters and a red star on the ceiling.
Next, visit the tomb of Seuthes III in the Valley of the Thracian Kings. Seuthes III was the King of the Odrysian Kingdom of Thrace from 331 BC to 300 BC and the founder of the nearby Thracian city of Seuthopolis.
In the afternoon, head to the Architectural and Ethnographic Complex Damascena in the Rose Valley. Learn about the legends of Orpheus, considered one of the chief poets and musicians of antiquity and a symbol of the art of music.
Discover the process of producing rose oil, declared the highest quality in the world. It takes 30 roses to produce 1 drop of rose oil, and 3,000-4,000 kg of rose flowers for 1 kg of first-rate rose oil. The first rose oil in Bulgaria was distilled in the 17th century.
