Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Guilin and a scenic drive into the hills. As the road climbs and twists, the countryside opens up—and soon you’ll see them: the Longji Rice Terraces, layered across the mountains like giant green staircases.

Arrive at Ping’an Village, one of the best places to experience the terraces up close. From here, you can choose your pace: hike through village paths and terrace trails for the best viewpoints and photos, or take an optional electric cart (CNY 50/person, pay on site) if you’d like to save energy.

Next, enjoy a hands-on bamboo rice cooking experience. Prepare sticky rice inside fresh bamboo tubes and roast it over an open flame. When it’s ready, crack it open and enjoy the aroma of smoke and bamboo—an authentic snack-style taste of local life.

After the terraces, return to the city for two of Guilin’s highlights. First, stop at Elephant Trunk Hill, the famous rock formation where the “trunk” seems to dip into the river like an elephant drinking—an easy, classic photo stop.

Then slow the pace in Dongxi Alley, Guilin’s atmospheric old street. Wander brick lanes and red lanterns, browse tea and craft shops, and relax in courtyard cafés. Grab a coffee, try noodles, or simply stroll and people-watch.
