In July 2026, the Canton Tower Pier reopened following a six-year closure for renovation. Making its debut alongside the pier was the "Jixiang Fang" (Auspicious Boat)—China’s first three-deck luxury cruise ship themed around the Nanyue Kingdom, with a passenger capacity of 435. Its design draws inspiration from traditional Lingnan painted pleasure boats and ancient Yue ceremonial culture; the exterior is adorned with auspicious dragon and flowing cloud motifs, complemented by a gold-and-red color scheme and a comprehensive lighting system that creates distinct visual effects between day and night.
The cruise experience integrates three key elements—immersive performances, themed dining, and river sightseeing—with each deck offering unique features.
Level 1: Main Performance Stage
This is the heart of the "Trans-temporal Nanyue Banquet" experience, allowing for a seamless transition between dining and live entertainment. While guests dine, performers clad in Nanyue-style attire present a bespoke live show accompanied by ancient music and classical dance. The culinary offering centers on the "Lingnan Charm Through the Ages" banquet, where authentic local delicacies create a unique experience where "feasting unfolds alongside drama, and dance moves in harmony with music."
Level 2: Cultural Gallery and Observation Corridor
The second deck features a wraparound observation corridor and a Nanyue cultural and archaeological exhibition area. Here, visitors can enjoy river views while viewing Nanyue-related cultural artifacts up close and learning about the kingdom's history. Balancing cultural immersion with comfortable indoor viewing, this deck is an ideal choice for visitors who wish to take in the river scenery while also exploring historical narratives.
Level 3: Open-air Observation Deck
The third deck is a fully open-air observation platform offering unobstructed, 360-degree views of the Pearl River. Equipped with Nanyue-themed photo installations, it serves as a prime location for photographing the Canton Tower, Liede Bridge, and the dazzling city skyline.
