Begin your day with a scenic drive to Zhujiajiao, a 1,700-year-old water town. Step onto the FangSheng Bridge, the largest and longest stone arch bridge in the Shanghai region, and wander through Beidajie, a street where traditional shops still sell everything from hand-rolled tea to embroidered slippers.
Then, enjoy a quiet rowboat ride along the town's canals, gliding beneath ancient arch bridges as water birds skim the surface. After a lunch of river-fresh delicacies and some free time to explore or sip tea by the water, return to the modern city.
In the afternoon, see the Bund's grand procession of colonial-era buildings, where your guide traces Shanghai's transformation from a fishing village to the "Wall Street of the East." As night falls, board a sightseeing boat for a 45-minute cruise along the Huangpu, watching the city's two faces – heritage amber on one bank, futuristic silver and blue on the other – trade stories across the dark water.
