This Zagreb gastro journey is a trip back in time that links the city’s history with its everyday food culture. Along the way, you’ll hear how one of Croatia’s most famous national dishes developed, which dessert managed to win over the whole country in just a few decades, and what kind of dishes still appear on local tables today – and why. You’ll get a sense of how history and everyday life shaped what people here cook and eat.

During the walk, we’ll move between elegant squares, green parks, historic streets and the city’s central market area. We’ll talk about rulers, soldiers and ordinary citizens, and how their lives are reflected in recipes that survived to this day.
