In the early 1970s, nine rivers and streams between Adaba and Goba were stocked with trout, and the species have since thrived in the cool, clear highland waters. Today, these rivers offer outstanding sport fishing opportunities in one of Ethiopia’s most scenic landscapes.

Trout fishing is available along a short stretch of the Web River near Dinsho, as well as on the Shaya and Tegona Rivers near Goba town. Each river features fast-flowing currents, crystal-clear water, and abundant rock pools where trout can be carefully stalked with the guidance of an experienced river guide.

For beginners, professional guides provide full instruction in fly-fishing techniques, including casting, reading the water, and selecting the right flies. Experienced anglers will also appreciate the challenge of these wild mountain rivers. Rods, reels, tackle, and a selection of flies are provided, although guests are welcome to bring their own equipment.

Fishing conditions vary throughout the region — from cascading waterfalls and deep, still pools to the narrow, clear waters of the Danka Stream. The diversity of habitats supports healthy trout populations and offers a rewarding experience for anglers of all skill levels.
