Suomenlinna (1748), the island fortress, is your chance to see another spirit of Helsinki. Enjoy the sea breeze, ferry ride, bastions, canons, even a submarine! A true walk through history!
Swedish-Russian-Finnish UNESCO fortress is located on a group of islands in the harbor of Finland’s capital. During 15 minutes ferry ride you will enjoy panoramic views of Helsinki from the water, hear our seagulls, and see picturesque small islands along the way.

At the fortress you will see:
~ Lutheran church used as a lighthouse
~ the only existing Finnish submarine
~ granite fortress walls, cannons, bastions and casemates
~ lilac bushes, birds, rocky shoreline and our Baltic sea
~ Helsinki disctrict with school, library, and a Naval Academy
~ reality of 18th century life of builders, soldiers and prisoners
~ during your free time you may choose to explore attractions (church, museum, submarine - entrance fees during this time are at your own expense). However, our advice is to simply enjoy the surroundings at your own pace.

Despite its military past, Suomenlinna is today a peaceful and charming district with many trees, parks, cozy cafes and great views. A historic fortress has become an integral part of modern city life.

Note: Ferry tickets are not included in the tour price. We advise buying a 24h AB zone ticket for Helsinki public transport (HSL app). Your guide will help you with this purchase on the spot if needed.
