Rather than a standard World War II overview, the experience focuses on authentic wartime traces — wrecks recovered from the sea, bombed fortifications, craters, and cemeteries — revealing the scale, strategy, and human cost of the invasion.

The journey begins with a visit to the Musée des Épaves Sous-Marines in Port-en-Bessin, where real ship and landing craft wrecks recovered from the seabed illustrate the hidden, often overlooked material remains of D-Day. From October to May, or depending on availability, this visit may be replaced by the Longues-sur-Mer German Artillery Battery, a preserved Atlantic Wall site with original coastal guns overlooking the English Channel.

At Pointe du Hoc, walk among preserved bunkers, artillery craters, and cliff-top fortifications assaulted by US Rangers. The terrain itself explains the tactical challenges faced during the landings.

The tour continues to the Musée Overlord, where vehicles, weapons, and equipment provide a broader operational context. A field kitchen lunch break follows, recreating the atmosphere of soldiers’ daily life during the campaign (meals not included).

At Omaha Beach, stand on the shoreline where American troops landed under heavy fire, gaining a clear understanding of the chaos and scale of the operation.

The day concludes with visits to the Normandy American Cemetery and the German War Cemetery La Cambe, offering two perspectives on memory, loss, and the ethics of remembrance.
