Descripción
Make handmade potato gnocchi and Genoese pesto with a mortar in a family-run Ligurian shop, then enjoy brunch with 2 local wines in Genoa.
Step into a typical Ligurian shop in the heart of Genoa and enjoy a hands-on cooking experience dedicated to two beloved local traditions: handmade potato gnocchi and authentic Genoese pesto prepared with a marble mortar and wooden pestle.
BioTigullio5Terre is located in Genoa’s historic center, just a few steps from Christopher Columbus’ House, Porta Soprana, and Piazza Sarzano. The metro station is only about 50 meters away, making the shop easy to reach.
This is not a standard cooking school. It is a family-run Ligurian shop dedicated to authentic local products from small and medium-sized producers, many of which are difficult to find elsewhere. During the experience, you will discover not only recipes, but also the stories, flavors, and traditions behind Ligurian food culture.
Start by preparing soft potato gnocchi from scratch. Learn how to work the dough, shape each piece by hand, and understand the small details that make homemade gnocchi delicate and delicious.
Then move on to one of Liguria’s most iconic recipes: Genoese pesto made with a mortar and pestle. Guided step by step, prepare your pesto using basil, extra virgin olive oil, pine nuts, cheese, and traditional gestures passed down through generations.
During the class, Barbara will share stories about Ligurian producers and the network of more than 120 local companies connected to the shop, including winemakers, cheesemakers, beekeepers, pastry makers, pasta artisans, and pesto producers. The experience is also inspired by Gaia, one of the youngest finalists at the 2026 Genoa World Pesto Championship.
At the end of the class, sit down for a relaxed Ligurian brunch with the gnocchi you prepared, dressed with the fresh pesto made during the experience. Your meal will be paired with a tasting of 2 local Ligurian wines selected from small producers.
More than a cooking class, this is a journey into Genoa, Ligurian flavors, family traditions, and the authentic food culture of the region.
