From here, stroll along the shoreline toward the breathtaking O-Torii gate, which appears to float on the water during high tide. If conditions allow, walk right up to it during low tide.

Next, visit the renowned Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before heading to the impressive Daisho-in Temple complex. This temple is one of the most important in the region and is home to a variety of significant Buddhist artifacts and relics.

Finally, immerse yourself in the lively downtown area, where you can enjoy a variety of local street foods. One of the most popular specialties on Miyajima is Momiji manju. These sweet, maple leaf-shaped cakes are filled with flavors such as sweet red bean paste, custard, and chocolate, making them a perfect snack as you explore the island.
