This pottery experience is led by a nationally certified Kiyomizu-yaki master artisan with over 20 years of professional experience. Guests learn from a true expert recognized among the top tier of traditional craftsmen in Japan.
Unlike many tourist workshops, participants begin with clay preparation (“tsuchikoroshi”), an essential step usually handled only by professionals. This allows for a deeper understanding of authentic pottery-making techniques.
The workshop is held in a quiet, clean hotel setting, creating a calm environment ideal for concentration. Instruction is personalized to each participant’s level, making the experience accessible even for beginners. Guests will shape their own handmade pottery piece as a meaningful cultural takeaway from Kyoto.

The workshop is conducted in a calm and quiet environment.
Participants will engage in the full pottery process, starting from clay preparation.
The experience is suitable for both beginners and those with some pottery experience.
Clothing may get dirty during the experience, so please wear appropriate attire. We are not responsible for injuries during the workshop or for damage after shipping.
Please note that you will not be able to take your work home with away as it will take sometime to complete the process of making pottery.
Children under 5 may attend as observers only and must stay with their parent or guardian.
