Discover Takayama and UNESCO-listed Shirakawa-go on a winter day trip from Nagoya, featuring traditional villages, snowy scenery, and the spectacular Shirakawa-go winter illumination.
Experience the beauty of Japan’s winter countryside on a day trip from Nagoya to Takayama and Shirakawa-go, including the special winter illumination of the UNESCO World Heritage village.

Meet at Nagoya Station at 10:00 AM and travel by vehicle to Takayama. Hotel pickup may also be available for hotels within approximately 3 km of Nagoya Station.

Explore Takayama Old Town for around 120 minutes, with free time to stroll through the historic streets and enjoy lunch at your own expense. If traffic causes delays, the time in Takayama may be shortened or the stop may be canceled to ensure the Shirakawa-go illumination schedule can be maintained.

Continue to Shirakawa-go, famous for its traditional gassho-style thatched-roof houses. Enjoy approximately 2 hours of free time to explore the village and admire its beautiful winter scenery.

As evening arrives, experience the special Shirakawa-go winter illumination. For approximately 150 minutes, enjoy the magical atmosphere of snow-covered traditional houses illuminated against the winter night sky.

After the illumination, meet at the designated Shirakawa-go meeting point at 8:00 PM and begin the journey back to Nagoya. A vehicle will arrive at the Takayama meeting point at around 9:00 PM, where you may leave the tour if needed. The tour is scheduled to arrive back at the Nagoya meeting point at approximately 10:30 PM.

Please arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before departure. This is a shared tour, so punctuality is essential.

Winter weather and traffic conditions may affect the itinerary. In case of significant delays, the Takayama visit may be shortened or canceled to prioritize the Shirakawa-go winter illumination.

If we may cancel the Takayama stop due to delays, state travelers can receive a refund for the affected booking, or remove the cancellation wording.
