Descripción
Explore Nara's UNESCO World Heritage temples on a private tour. Visit Yakushi-ji, Toshodai-ji, and Tōdai-ji, and see the famous deer of Nara Park.
Begin your day in the Nishinokyō district, which most Nara tours skip, with two of the most important temples in Japan. Visit Yakushi-ji, founded in 680 by Emperor Tenmu for the recovery of his consort. Admire a seventh-century bronze triad of the Medicine Buddha flanked by the Sunlight and Moonlight Bodhisattvas.
Next, take a short walk north to Toshodai-ji, founded in 759 by the Chinese monk Ganjin, who crossed to Japan after five failed attempts and arrived blind. See the Main Hall, which holds an eighth-century seated Rushana Buddha (Vairocana), a standing Medicine Buddha, and a Thousand-Armed Kannon — all National Treasures.
Then, travel to central Nara for the famous deer of Nara Park — 1,200 sacred deer that roam freely and bow for the rice crackers sold at park stalls.
Finally, visit Tōdai-ji's Great Buddha Hall, which houses the 15-meter bronze Great Buddha (Vairocana / Daibutsu), completed in 752 under Emperor Shōmu. See one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in the world.
