Located in the lively Kawaramachi district, this hands-on activity is a favorite among sake lovers, first-timers, and travelers from around the world looking for something beyond the usual sightseeing.

The experience begins with a guided tasting of eight carefully selected sakes from breweries across Japan, including Kyoto — one of the country's three most historic sake-producing regions. Our friendly, English-speaking staff will walk you through the differences in aroma, sweetness, and flavor — no prior knowledge required, so beginners and enthusiasts alike will feel right at home.

Once you've explored the flavors, it's time for the main event: blending. Using flasks, pipettes, and other lab-style tools, you'll combine the eight sakes freely, adjusting the balance of sweetness, dryness, and aroma to match your own taste. There's no right answer — the fun is in experimenting until you find the perfect blend, a completely original sake that exists nowhere else in the world.

Your finished sake is bottled to take home. You can personalize the label with your name, a special date, or a message, making it a memorable souvenir or a unique gift. This experience is perfect for couples celebrating an anniversary, families exploring Kyoto together, or friends looking for a fun, shareable activity.

The experience takes approximately 60–90 minutes. Your booking time refers to your arrival at the shop, and the full session — tasting, blending, and labeling — is designed to be relaxed and unhurried. Timing may vary slightly depending on how busy the shop is, so please allow a little flexibility. English-speaking staff are always on hand to support international guests.

Getting here is easy. My Sake World is located in the Kawaramachi area, within walking distance of Hankyu Kawaramachi Station and Keihan Gion-Shijo Station, and close to some of Kyoto's most famous spots, including Nishiki Market, the Kamo River, Gion, and Pontocho.
