Descripción

Nairobi's graffiti scene is raw, underrated, and unlike anything you've seen. This 2.5-hour walking tour takes you inside it with a local who knows it. Bankslave, Temu, the streets, the stories.
Meet your guide, a local artist or culture connector who knows the scene, at K1 Klubhouse on Museum Hill. K1 is ground zero for Nairobi's graffiti community, a legendary social space where the culture converges. It's where collaborations get planned, where the real artists show up, and where the vibe has always been unapologetically Nairobi.

From there, the route unfolds through neighborhoods and walls most visitors never find. See 8–12 major pieces across the CBD and Eastlands, each with a story. Some are political, responses to the 2007–8 post-election violence, commentary on corruption, portraits of political prisoners. Some are pure aesthetic, color explosions, portraits, calligraphic pieces that took weeks to complete. Some are collaborative walls where multiple artists worked simultaneously, leaving their signatures in a style that only exists in Nairobi.

Your guide explains the language of the walls: the tags, the signatures, the beefs, the aesthetics. Learn who painted what, why they chose that wall, what it cost them, how long it took, and where they're at now. This is not a surface walk. It's a deep dive into a subculture that has operated outside the official art world for decades, and has a richer history than most galleries will ever admit.

The route includes stops at hotspots including Railway Street, River Road, and Godown Alley, areas where the density of work is highest and the scenes most active. See fresh work done days ago and fading pieces from years back. The tour gives you context for all of it.

The experience ends at a street food stop near Heshima, where the group typically shares a nyayo and a chai, and the conversation about Nairobi art culture continues informally. Leave with a completely different relationship with the city's walls.
