Kathmandu: Pharping Sacred Caves & Monastery Day Tour

Explore Pharping’s sacred caves, monasteries, and Nepal’s oldest hydropower station on a day tour from Kathmandu. Enjoy a local lunch and take a nature walk with valley views.
Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Kathmandu. Drive toward Pharping via the southern valley road.

Arrive at Asura Cave, one of the most sacred meditation caves in Nepal. Learn about the site’s spiritual significance and hear about Guru Rinpoche, a revered figure in Tibetan Buddhism. Take in the peaceful atmosphere, with butter lamps and chanting monks adding to the experience.

Next, visit the Yanglesho Cave and Monastery area. Explore the ancient meditation cave complex and visit an active monastery. If the timing is right, observe prayer rituals and soak in the spiritual ambiance.

Continue to Nepal’s oldest hydropower station, built in 1911. Discover this historic engineering site, see old turbines and British-era machinery, and hear a short guided explanation of Nepal’s first electricity system.

Stop for lunch and enjoy a Dal Bhat set meal or a Newari-style lunch. Opt for a tea stop at a village café before heading to a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. If available, talk with monks and experience the meditation atmosphere.

Finally, take a light forest walk, cross suspension bridges, and enjoy views of the Kathmandu Valley. Make photography stops before returning to Kathmandu.
