2 Day Lake Mburo Safari: Wildlife, Cycling, & Boat Ride

Cycle with zebras, walk with giraffes, and take a boat ride past hippos at Lake Mburo. Plus, enjoy roadside roast meats and a photo stop at the Equator. Uganda’s most unique 2-day wildlife adventure.
Day 1: The Equator, Local Flavors & Sunset Cycling
Your journey begins with a morning pickup from Kampala or Entebbe. As we head southwest, we dive straight into the local culture and fascinating landmarks:

The Lukaya Stopover: Experience a true Ugandan road trip tradition. We’ll stop at Lukaya for famous roadside roast meats, including succulent chicken, goat meat, and sweet roasted plantains known as "Gonja."

The Equator Crossing: Stand in two hemispheres at once! We’ll stop for iconic photos and witness the fascinating physics of the Coriolis effect at this imaginary line.

Evening Cycling Safari: After arriving at the park in the late afternoon, swap the car for a mountain bike. This is one of the few places in Africa where you can cycle with zebras and giraffes. Enjoy the cool evening breeze and a golden savannah sunset as you pedal past herds of impala and eland.

Evening: Relax at your lodge, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African bush.

Day 2: Walking with Giants, Boat Cruise & Return
Day two is all about getting out of the vehicle and immersing yourself in the landscape of Lake Mburo National Park.

Classic Game Drive & Nature Walk: After an early breakfast, we head out for a sunrise game drive. In Lake Mburo, the experience is flexible—at specific safe points, you are encouraged to get out of the vehicle and walk to get a closer view of the towering giraffes. It is a thrilling way to appreciate the scale of these "gentle giants" in their natural habitat.

Afternoon Boat Safari: Following lunch, we board a boat for a relaxing cruise on Lake Mburo. Keep your camera ready for resident hippos, prehistoric-looking crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife. You’ll likely hear the iconic call of the African Fish Eagle as it hunts along the shoreline.

Journey Back: In the late afternoon, we begin our return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, carrying memories of an unforgettable 48 hours in the wild.
