Arequipa: Horseback Riding Tour with Volcano Views

Discover the countryside of Arequipa on a horseback riding tour. Ride a Peruvian Criollo horse through pre-Inca terraces, open fields, and traditional farming communities.
Begin your adventure with transportation from Arequipa to the Campiña Arequipeña, located southwest of the impressive El Misti volcano. Upon arrival, meet your Peruvian Criollo horse and receive a safety briefing and basic riding instructions from your guide and local horseman.

Once you feel comfortable, set out on a scenic ride lasting approximately two and a half hours. Follow mostly gentle trails through preserved pre-Inca agricultural terraces, open fields, small rivers, and traditional farming communities. Along the way, admire panoramic views of the countryside and the striking Misti and Chachani volcanoes rising above the landscape.

Your guide will share information about the area, its traditions, local history, and rural way of life. The route includes mostly flat terrain with some uphill and downhill sections and can be adapted to the experience level of the group, making the activity suitable for beginners as well as more confident riders.

Experienced riders may have the opportunity to ride at a faster pace in suitable flat areas, but only when conditions allow and with the guide’s permission.

After the ride, relax during the return journey to Arequipa, completing a memorable four-hour experience combining horses, nature, culture, and spectacular volcanic scenery.
