Travel by sleeper bus to Puno and discover the floating islands of the Uros and Taquile Island on a 1-day excursion, enjoying a traditional lunch on a fast tourist boat.
First, you'll travel from Arequipa to Puno by bus. Upon arrival in Puno, we'll pick you up and transfer you to a hotel where you can wait more comfortably for the start of your excursion.
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Puno. Head to the port of Lake Titicaca and board a boat to the Uros Floating Islands. Sail for about 30 minutes to reach these unique islands, constructed from totora reeds.
Upon arrival, meet the local inhabitants and learn about their history, lifestyle, and traditions. Discover how the islands are built and maintained. Enjoy an optional ride on a traditional totora reed boat.
Next, continue your journey to Taquile Island, a 2.5-hour boat ride away. Upon arrival, take a moderate hike along scenic trails to the main village. Learn about the island’s social organization and its UNESCO-recognized textile heritage.
Savor a typical lunch, usually featuring trout or quinoa, at a communal restaurant. Afterward, enjoy free time to explore the island or shop for local crafts.
Finally, return to Puno by boat, arriving back at your hotel in the late afternoon.
