Descripción

Discover the biodiversity of Manu National Park on a 3-day tour from Cusco. Explore the cloud forest, visit a wildlife rescue center, and see parrots and macaws at a clay lick.
Day 1: Cusco – Ninamarca – Paucartambo – Acjanaco – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata

Begin with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco and travel to the Ninamarca Chullpas, a pre-Inca archaeological site of the Lupaca culture. Continue to Paucartambo, where you’ll enjoy a traditional breakfast, before heading to Acjanaco Pass, the entrance to Manu National Park.

From Acjanaco, descend toward the cloud forest, where you’ll hike through a rich ecosystem of orchids, ferns, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. With some luck, spot the famous Andean cock-of-the-rock, monkeys, and other species. After lunch surrounded by nature, continue to Pilcopata and check in at your lodge.

In the evening, enjoy a night walk to look for nocturnal wildlife such as frogs, insects, and other jungle species.

Day 2: Pilcopata – Atalaya – Amazon Lodge – Machuwasi Lake

After breakfast, visit a wildlife rescue center to learn about the rehabilitation and conservation of Amazonian species.

Then, travel to Atalaya Port and take a boat ride along the Alto Madre de Dios River, enjoying the jungle scenery and looking for birds such as herons, vultures, and cormorants.

Arrive at Amazon Manu Lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings. After lunch, visit Machuwasi Lake, a beautiful Amazonian wetland rich in birdlife. Explore the lake by traditional wooden boat and see ducks, eagles, hoatzins, and, with luck, capybaras. Climb an observation tower for panoramic views.

After returning to the lodge, enjoy dinner and spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 3: Parrot Clay Lick – Atalaya – Cusco

Start early with a boat trip to a parrot clay lick, where several species of parrots and macaws gather at sunrise to feed on mineral-rich clay.

After this wildlife experience, return to the lodge for breakfast, pack your belongings, and take the boat back to Atalaya Port. From there, your transportation will take you back to Cusco, with a stop for lunch along the way.
