Discover the incredible biodiversity of Manu, from the Andes to the Amazon rainforest. Enjoy wildlife sightings, jungle hikes, and a unique experience in the heart of nature.
Day 1:
We will depart early from Cusco in a private bus, traveling through the stunning Andes valleys and picturesque countryside. Our first stops will be at the Chullpas of Ninamarca, a pre-Inca cemetery, and in the colonial town of Paucartambo, where we'll visit a museum to explore the local culture. We’ll enjoy lunch in the cloud forest before continuing our descent into this rich ecosystem, home to endemic species like the Spectacled Bear and the Cock of the Rock, Peru's national bird. Along the way, we’ll encounter diverse plants such as orchids and ferns. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Pilcopata, our lodge for the night.

Day 2:
After an early breakfast, we’ll hike through the forest, spotting wildlife such as monkeys and various birds. Next, we’ll visit a coca plantation and a wildlife rescue center. Continuing by bus to Port Atalaya, situated along the Alto Madre de Dios River, we’ll board a boat to observe an array of bird species, including herons and vultures. We’ll also stop to relax in natural hot springs before having lunch and continuing our journey to Boca Manu, where we’ll spend the night at our lodge.

Day 3:
We’ll rise early to visit a parrot lick located a short boat ride from our lodge, followed by a brief stop at the Limonal security checkpoint. We’ll journey into the Reserved Zone for about four hours, arriving at Casa Machiguenga, our home for the next two nights. During this trip, we’ll see a variety of wildlife, including macaws, monkeys, and possibly a jaguar. The afternoon will be spent exploring the forest in search of more wildlife, and we’ll spend the night in rustic accommodations.

Day 4:
Awakened by the howler monkeys, we’ll start the day with breakfast and a morning hike, when wildlife is most active. We’ll explore Lake Salvador, searching for endangered giant river otters and other species. After lunch, we’ll embark on a three-hour hike to appreciate the region's biodiversity, with an optional night walk to discover frogs, snakes, and insects.

Day 5:
We’ll rise early for breakfast and take walks around our lodge and Lake Otorongo, where an observation tower provides a view of the surrounding primary forest and its inhabitants. We’ll look for otters, birds, and other wildlife before boarding our boat for a downstream journey, continuing to spot caimans and turtles. After visiting a viewing platform, we’ll head back to Boca Manu for the night.

Day 6:
We’ll board our boat on the Alto Madre de Dios River, traveling upstream to enjoy the breathtaking Amazon landscape and diverse bird species. An optional stop at the hot springs may be included before arriving at Amazon Manu Lodge, where we’ll relax in comfortable accommodations, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. An optional night walk is also available.

Day 7:
We’ll wake early for the return trip to Port Atalaya, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Cusco, with an expected evening arrival.
