Your guide will tell you all about the evolution, characteristics, and interesting facts about turtles. You'll learn why their well-being is a top priority on the island. Cape Verde is home to three species of turtles. The yellow turtle, also known as the loggerhead turtle, is the most common species in Cape Verde. Cape Verde's sandy beaches are one of the most important nesting sites for loggerhead turtles. In small groups, you'll walk the beach at night and watch turtles climb up onto the sand. If you are lucky enough to spot the turtles, sit down and remain as quiet as possible so as not to disturb them during nesting.
