During this full-day experience, you will visit historic landmarks, explore a local archaeological museum, and walk through one of the region’s most important ceremonial sites.
Your tour begins at the Plaza de Armas de San Pablo, where you will take in the atmosphere of this traditional Andean town and learn about its local history. From here, continue to the Kuntur Wasi Site Museum, where you will visit its three main exhibition rooms. Discover archaeological pieces found during excavations in the area, including gold objects, semi-precious stones, ceramics, lithic artifacts, and human remains. Your guide will help you understand the significance of these discoveries and their connection to the ancient cultures of northern Peru.
Next, head to the Kuntur Wasi Archaeological Site. Walk around the ancient ceremonial complex and discover the remains of a site that played an important role in the religious and cultural development of the region. As you explore, your guide will explain the archaeological evidence, the site's historical importance, and what has been discovered through research and excavations.
After visiting Kuntur Wasi, return to San Pablo to discover two landmarks connected with the town’s history. First, see the Arco de Triunfo, decorated with carved scenes related to the Battle of July 13, 1882. Then visit the July 13 Obelisk, built in 1922 in honor of the Peruvian heroes associated with this historic event.
