Descripción

Explore the ancient Karajía Sarcophagi and walk 550 meters into Quiocta Cave. Enjoy a local lunch in Luya while discovering two unique sides of the Amazonas region in one day.
Discover two of the most distinctive attractions of the Amazonas region on a full-day journey from Chachapoyas: the ancient Karajía Sarcophagi and the underground world of Quiocta Cave.

This experience is designed for travelers who want to go beyond the city and combine Chachapoya history, local landscapes, regional food, and an active cave exploration in the same day.

Your journey begins in Chachapoyas as you travel toward Cruzpata through the rural landscapes of Amazonas. Upon arrival, leave the vehicle behind and follow a scenic trail for approximately 25 minutes to reach the Karajía archaeological site.

At Karajía, discover the imposing funerary sarcophagi created by the ancient Chachapoya people. The figures stand vertically on a rocky cliff, overlooking the surrounding landscape. During the visit, your guide will explain the meaning of these funerary monuments, the traditions of the Chachapoya culture, and why this archaeological site is one of the most unusual examples of pre-Inca funerary architecture in the region. You will have time to observe the site, enjoy the views, and take photographs before returning to the vehicle.

Continue to Luya, a traditional town in the Amazonas region, where you will stop for a local lunch. This break gives you the opportunity to taste regional cuisine and rest before the afternoon adventure.

In the afternoon, continue to Quiocta Cave, one of the region's most remarkable natural attractions. From the parking area, take a short walk of approximately 5 minutes to reach the cave entrance.

Then enter the cave for an approximately 1.5-hour guided exploration. Follow a route of around 550 meters through the underground environment, where you can observe stalactites, stalagmites, and other natural rock formations formed over thousands of years.

The cave route involves walking over uneven and sometimes damp ground, making this part of the experience more active and adventurous. The necessary equipment for entering the cave is provided.

After completing the exploration, return to the vehicle and begin the journey back to Chachapoyas.

By the end of the day, you will have experienced two very different sides of Amazonas: the cultural heritage of the ancient Chachapoya civilization at Karajía and the natural underground landscapes of Quiocta Cave.

This experience includes tourist transportation, entrance tickets to the attractions, cave equipment, local lunch, and an official Spanish-speaking guide. English-language assistance can be arranged in advance.

The activity starts and ends in Chachapoyas.
