With over 2,000 years of history, Tarragona brings together remains of the Roman city of Tàrraco (which was once home to the Roman emperor Octavius Augustus), medieval streets, Catalan traditions, architecture, popular festivals, and a very special relationship with the Mediterranean. All of this appears on the same tour, often just a few meters apart.

The tour begins at the Portal del Roser, one of the city's old entrances, and continues through the streets of the Parte Alta, where present-day Tarragona was built on top of the ancient Roman Tarraco. Along the way, the walls, archaeological remains, and other details of the city help reconstruct the importance that Tarragona had in the Roman world.

The walk continues to the Cathedral of Santa Tecla to understand how Tarragona has changed over the centuries and how different historical periods have left their marks on the city and even on the same monument.
