Your first stop is Wat Yai Chaimongkol, built during the reign of King Ramathibodi I in 1357 CE. Admire the magnificent Chai Mongkhon Chedi, the temple's most prominent landmark, and learn about its historical, archaeological, architectural, and artistic significance.

Next, visit Wat Mahathat, home to the iconic Buddha Head entwined in tree roots. Built during the reign of King Borommarachathirat I in 1374 CE, this temple played an important role during the Ayutthaya period as a place enshrining the Buddha’s relics and serving as a religious center and venue for royal ceremonies.

Continue to Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the royal temple of the Ayutthaya Palace, where royal religious ceremonies were held and the ashes of kings and members of the royal family were enshrined. Its most distinctive landmark is the three large bell-shaped chedis, which stand as an iconic symbol of the temple.

Finally, visit Wat Lokayasutha, home to a magnificent Reclining Buddha, located on the western side of the temple grounds. The statue underwent a major restoration in 1856 CE, while the surrounding ancient ruins and remains of the prang reflect the distinctive architectural style of the Ayutthaya period.
