Discover the magic of the Tunisian Sahara on a 3-day tour from Tunis. Visit UNESCO sites, explore mountain oases, and enjoy two desert nights in a Sahara camp and a bivouac.
Day 1: Tunis / Sousse / Hammamet – Kairouan – Chebika & Tamerza – Chott El Jerid – Sabria

Begin with an early morning departure from your hotel. Stop in Kairouan, Tunisia’s spiritual capital and UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the Great Mosque, stroll through the medina, and explore local handicrafts.

Continue to the stunning mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza, known for their waterfalls, palm groves, and breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy lunch in the Tamerza region.

Cross the vast Chott El Jerid, the largest salt lake in North Africa, famous for its mirages and changing colors. Arrive at the Dunes Insolites Camp in Sabria. Check in to your Bedouin-style tent.

Enjoy a camp evening program, including a sunset over the golden dunes, a traditional dinner, and an evening around a campfire under the stars. Spend the night in a desert tent.

Day 2: Sabria – Optional Activities – Desert Bivouac

Have breakfast at the camp. Spend a free morning with optional activities available (extra cost), including camel trekking, quad biking, a 4x4 desert safari, or an excursion to Douz, the “gateway to the Sahara.” Enjoy lunch at the camp.

In the afternoon, get ready for a true desert immersion. Watch as camel drivers prepare dromedaries and all bivouac equipment (tents, mattresses, meals). Depart into the Sahara by camel caravan (4x4 option also available). With your guide, choose the perfect spot to set up camp.

Help prepare the traditional dinner cooked over a wood fire. Spend the evening around the campfire, enjoying the silence and vastness of the desert. Spend the night in a bivouac: either in a nomadic tent or directly under the starry sky.

Day 3: Sabria – Matmata – El Jem – Return

Wake up in the desert and enjoy breakfast. Return to the camp for a shower and short rest. Drive towards Matmata, famous for its troglodyte houses and Star Wars filming locations. Visit and enjoy a traditional lunch in a troglodyte house.

Continue to El Jem to explore the impressive Roman amphitheatre, a UNESCO site and one of the largest colosseums in the world. Return to Tunis, Sousse, or Hammamet in the afternoon.
