Day 1: rocky desert red sand dunes and oasis water source desert:
Djerba – Tataouine – Chenini – Guermassa – Ksar Ghilane
Depart from Djerba in the morning and begin your journey into Southern Tunisia. The first day takes you through the rocky desert landscapes of the Dahar Mountains, where the scenery changes dramatically from rocky plateaus to rugged mountain valleys.
Stop at Chahbania before continuing toward Tataouine, a region rich in history and Berber culture. Then explore Chenini, a historic Berber village built into the mountainside, surrounded by the impressive rocky landscapes of the Dahar region and known for its unique architecture and old movie filming sites.
Continue to Guermassa, another spectacular Berber village surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.
In the afternoon, the landscape transforms as you reach Ksar Ghilane, where the rocky desert gives way to the red and golden sand dunes of the Sahara. Discover this beautiful oasis surrounded by palm trees and vast dunes, relax in the natural hot spring, and enjoy an optional quad bike ride through the dunes.
Spend the night in a desert camp beneath the stars, facing the majestic dunes of Ksar Ghilane.
Day 2: Yellow soft sand dunes:
Ksar Ghilane – Douz – Zaafrane – Sahara Desert Camp
After breakfast, leave Ksar Ghilane and continue toward Douz, the Gateway to the Sahara.
The landscape changes once again as you reach Zaafrane, near Douz, where you discover a different side of the Sahara: vast yellow-golden sand dunes stretching as far as the eye can see.
Enjoy an optional camel trek through the dunes of Zaafrane, crossing the soft golden sand and experiencing the peacefulness of the vast Sahara.
Later, admire a spectacular sunset over the yellow dunes before heading to your desert camp in the middle of nowhere.
Spend another unforgettable night surrounded by endless dunes and a star-filled desert sky.
Day 3: Douz – Matmata – Tamazret – Toujane – Djerba
After breakfast, continue toward Matmata, famous for its traditional underground cave homes, carved directly into the earth to protect residents from the region's extreme temperatures.
Visit a local family and discover their traditional lifestyle and unique underground architecture. Explore the area's underground home caves and historic old movie sites.
Continue through Tamazret and Toujane, two beautiful Berber villages perched on the mountainsides, offering spectacular views and authentic local culture.
Return to Djerba in the late afternoon, ending your 3-day Sahara adventure after experiencing the rocky desert, red dunes of Ksar Ghilane, and golden dunes of Zaafrane.
