İzmir: Street Food & Culture Walking Tour

Learn about 10+ Turkish foods on a guided walk from Konak Square through Kemeraltı Bazaar and along the Kordon to Alsancak. See the city's best sights and choose what you want to try!
Get to know İzmir the way locals do, on foot and through its food culture.

We start on the waterfront at Konak Square, next to the iconic İzmir Clock Tower. After a short introduction to the city's history, we will step into Kemeraltı, the 17th century bazaar that has been the heart of İzmir's trade for centuries.

Inside the bazaar you'll walk narrow lanes full of spice sellers, coppersmiths and tiny family run kitchens. You'll learn about more than 10 Turkish specialties, from street food and Aegean flavors to traditional sweets and drinks, while your guide explains what each one is and why it matters here. Your guide will point out the stalls locals actually go to, so you can stop and try whatever catches your eye. You'll also see how people shop for olives, cheeses, dried fruits, nuts and spices.

Then we head back to the sea and walk the Kordon, İzmir's famous seaside promenade with views over the gulf.
The tour ends in Alsancak, the city's most vibrant neighborhood. We say goodbye at the ferry pier, where you can catch a ferry, take a taxi, or stay and enjoy the evening like a local.
