Head past the city lights with a passionate astronomy guide to admire the Milky Way and Southern Cross over Cairns, learn constellation stories, and try capturing the night sky on your own smartphone.
Leave the city glow behind on this evening stargazing tour to one of the darkest skies near Cairns. After free hotel pickup between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM, your English and Japanese-speaking astronomy guide drives you out to a dedicated dark-sky viewing spot away from light pollution.
Once there, your guide sets up and walks you through the southern night sky, pointing out the Milky Way, the Southern Cross, and other constellations you simply cannot see from the Northern Hemisphere, while sharing the stories and science behind them. You will also get a short lesson on how to photograph the stars with your own smartphone, so you go home with your own keepsake shots of the night sky, and an optional professional DJI camera is available to rent on the night for an even sharper result.
This tour runs nightly, weather permitting. If clouds roll in and the stars are not visible, tours are cancelled free of charge and you can simply reschedule. Warm layers are recommended, as it gets cool out in the open after dark even in tropical Cairns. Suitable for all ages, this is a relaxed, easygoing night out for couples, families, and solo travellers alike.

Please dress warmly, as temperatures can drop significantly at night, even in Cairns. There are no restroom facilities at the stargazing site, so please use the restroom before departure. Bookings must be made by 4:00 PM on the day of the tour; requests made after this cut-off time will be confirmed directly with you by our team
