Meet your guide at the Visit Albania Tour Operator office, located right in the historical center near the King Mosque. Begin by exploring the mosque’s 15th-century architecture. If the doors are open and it is not prayer time, step inside.
Next, visit the Porta e Pashait (Gate of the Pasha) and the Sarajet e Pashait, the remnants of the grand palace complex of the Ottoman governors. Stop at a neighborhood Byrektore for a classic start—fresh, flaky Byrek served with a cold, salted Dhallë.
Walk across the iconic Gorica Bridge into the ancient Christian quarter. Pause at a local restaurant to sample the "soul food" of the region.
