The beautiful old town of Aachen with the historic cathedral in the centre is known and loved beyond the region.
The Dutch call it "Aken". The Belgian neighbours call it "Aix-la-Chapelle" and the people of Aachen call it simply: "Oche".
Numerous fountains adorn Aachen's city centre, telling of Aachen's history and depicting Aachen legends. On this city rally you can learn exciting Öch secrets from the fountains. The fountains are not only beautiful to look at, but can also be touched, twisted and played with.
The tour is particularly suitable for families, is about 1.5 kilometres long and takes a good hour. However, there are tempting cafés and ice cream parlours along the way. If you stop there, you will of course need longer. Most of the route leads through pedestrian zones.
At the stops there are entertaining tasks to solve and fun questions to answer. Who knows, for example, who or what the Fischpüddelchen is? Or why the famous Elisenbrunnen fountain smells so special? Find out!
