Start your tour at the Georgenkirche, which is located in the market square area. Here you will see highly decorative administration buildings and merchants’ houses in the surroundings.

Further ahead is the Parish Nikolaikirche, situated in the Karlsplatz and was constructed in 1190. It also serves as a monastery church for the Benedictines.

Visit the largest one-piece mansion of the district. View the Aficionados of Art Nouveau ornaments, wrought-iron garden gate art and impressive bay variations.

You will see the Bach memorial that was inaugurated in 1884 and was constructed by Adolf von Donndorf. Every year, the annual Bach tributes on 21 March take place here.

Move forward to unfold the history of the Black Well, which reminds of the terrible disaster that occurred on the evening of 1st September, 1810. The French troops exploded in the middle of the town with Gunpowder and ammunition carriages.

Another one of the creations by Adolf von Donndorf, the Luther Memorial stands in the oldest marketplace of the city. The memorial portrays four scenes from Luther’s life in Wartburg and Eisenach.

Next, move to the monument in the Wartburg city of Eisenach which is located to the west of the old town hall. This is the oldest preserved profane town house in the city. It is owned by the reputed Hellgreve family.

Finally unveil the stories of Elizabeth of Hungary, who encountered many miracles in Life and also after Death. Some of the miraculous stories include : “The miracle of Roses” and “Crucifix in the Bed”. This Neo-Gothic church was consecrated in 1888 in her honour.
