Explore the historic Antwerp ZOO, an outdoor experience where exotic animals roam. Enjoy keeper talks and feeding time, and discover a world of wildlife. Antwerp ZOO, established in 1843, is not only the oldest animal park in the country but one of the oldest in the world.
Initially designed to foster zoological and botanical sciences, the ZOO continues to serve this purpose while offering a blend of recreation, education, science, and culture. Antwerp ZOO is a fantastic family-friendly day out in Antwerp.
While exploring the ZOO, encounter various exhibits and species, including Vriesland, a renovated reptile house, an over-a-century-old aquarium, Savannah Aviary, Egyptian Temple, Hippotopia, and more. The park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.
The ZOO boasts over 10.5 hectares, and together with its sister park, Planckendael, Antwerp ZOO is home to more than 7,000 animals spanning approximately 950 species.
In the Valley of the Great Apes, gorillas roam while young chimpanzee Zabari plays. At the Egyptian Temple, male elephants test each other’s strength. Wander through the Buffalo Savannah, alive with colorful birds. Giraffes, zebras, and white rhinos graze and lounge on the open plains. And the lions… they play just like the children in the nearby playground.

Keeper talks and feeding times are conducted in Dutch.
Lockers are available, a small locker will cost your € 2,-, a big locker € 4,-. The key can be purchased in the ZOO shop. wheelchairs free of charge upon reservation
