Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu
Fly into the Himalayas with Druk Air, Bhutan’s national carrier, enjoying breathtaking views of valleys and snow-capped peaks. As you descend into Paro, catch glimpses of Paro Dzong and Ta Dzong. After immigration, meet your guide and drive to Thimphu. Visit Tashichho Dzong, the seat of government and religion, built in 1641 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. In the evening, stroll through Thimphu market. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 2: Thimphu – Punakha Excursion
Drive to Punakha (75 km / 3 hrs), Bhutan’s former capital until 1955. En route, stop at Dochu La Pass for panoramic Himalayan views and 108 chortens. Visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, one of Bhutan’s most stunning dzongs. Walk across the nearby suspension bridge before returning to Thimphu. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing
Explore Thimphu Valley starting with Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest seated Buddha statues. Visit Simply Bhutan Museum and Motithang Takin Preserve. Continue to National Memorial Chorten, a sacred site for locals. Explore handicraft shops for traditional arts. End the day at Clock Tower Square. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 4: Thimphu – Paro
Drive to Paro, stopping at Chuzom where two rivers meet. Visit Tamchog Lhakhang and its iron bridge. In Paro, explore Ta Dzong and Paro Rinpung Dzong, crossing Nya Mey Zam Bridge. Evening at Paro market. Overnight in Paro.
Day 5: Paro – Tiger’s Nest Hike
Hike to Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan’s most iconic monastery perched on a cliff. It is believed Guru Rinpoche meditated here after arriving on a tigress. The round trip takes about 5 hours. Later visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. Enjoy a traditional hot stone bath in the evening. Overnight in Paro.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Paro Airport for your onward journey with unforgettable memories of Bhutan.
