3-Day Uyuni Salt Flats & Altiplano Expedition
Discover the spectacular landscapes of southwestern Bolivia on a 3-day adventure across the Uyuni Salt Flats and the remote Bolivian Altiplano. Travel by shared 4WD with a professional driver and English-speaking guide while exploring salt flats, colorful lagoons, volcanoes, deserts, geysers, and unique Andean landscapes.
Day 1 – Uyuni Salt Flats & Incahuasi Island
Begin your adventure in Uyuni and depart at approximately 10:30 a.m. Visit the historic Train Cemetery before continuing to Colchani, where you can discover traditional salt-processing methods and local handicrafts.
Enter the magnificent Uyuni Salt Flats and visit the Saltwater Eyes, Playa Blanca, Salt Hotel Museum, Flags of the World, and Dakar Monument.
Continue to Incahuasi Island, famous for its giant cacti and ancient coral formations. Enjoy panoramic views of the salt flats and have fun taking creative perspective photographs.
Finish the day with a spectacular sunset experience accompanied by wine and snacks before continuing to your salt hostel in Atulcha for dinner and your first overnight stay.
Day 2 – Lagoons, Flamingos, Stone Tree & Red Lagoon
After breakfast, travel across the Chiguana Desert toward the viewpoint of the Ollagüe Volcano.
Continue through the spectacular high-altitude landscapes and visit Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota Lagoons, where you may observe flamingos and other Andean wildlife.
Enter the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve and continue through the Siloli Desert. Visit the famous Stone Tree before reaching the spectacular Red Lagoon, known for its colorful waters and flamingo colonies.
Continue to your hostel in Huayllajara or Polques for dinner and your second overnight stay.
Day 3 – Geysers, Hot Springs & Green Lagoon
Depart early in the morning and visit the Sol de Mañana Geysers, an impressive geothermal area filled with steaming fumaroles and bubbling mud pools.
Continue to the natural Polques Hot Springs, where you can relax in the thermal waters surrounded by spectacular Altiplano scenery.
Travel through the surreal Dalí Desert before visiting the Green and White Lagoons beneath the impressive Licancabur Volcano.
Border Crossing & Transfer to San Pedro de Atacama
After completing the final sightseeing stops, continue to the Bolivia–Chile border and complete the immigration procedures. From the border, board a shared transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. Arrive at approximately 1:00 p.m. Chile time, where your 3-day adventure comes to an end.
