Description
Discover the authentic Siem Reap: Khmer cooking with a local chef, cycling in the countryside, a family farm, and a tasting of traditional rice wine.
Start your day around 8:00 am with pick-up from your hotel in Siem Reap by your guide, driver and local chef. First, set out to explore a local market, where you can see the fresh produce and discover the ingredients used in everyday Cambodian cuisine. Together with the chef, choose the vegetables, meat, spices and fruits needed for your cooking class.
Then continue by tuk-tuk to the chef's house. After a short break, learn how to prepare several traditional Khmer dishes with the chef's guidance. Learn about ingredients, preparation techniques, and some local culinary customs. After the lesson, enjoy a convivial lunch and savor the dishes you have prepared yourself.
In the afternoon, set off on a bike ride through the Siem Reap countryside. Ride leisurely past rice paddies, along small rural lanes and through local villages. Depending on the season, you may also see lotus farms and discover traditional houses as well as the daily life of the locals.
Continue your ride to Wat Athvea, where your guide will tell you about the history of the site and its importance in local life. Then continue on to a family-run mushroom farm to learn about their production and chat with the family.
To round off the day, enjoy a small tasting of traditional rice wine, a specialty found in some Cambodian rural communities. Then return by tuk-tuk to your hotel in Siem Reap and enjoy some free time to unwind or relax by the pool.
This experience combines cooking, gastronomy, cycling, nature, culture and encounters with locals to discover Siem Reap in a different way, far from the usual tourist routes.
