Description
Climb the 1,605 steps to Monserrate at sunrise with a Bogotano guide. Small groups of max 8, local legends along the trail, and a traditional Colombian snack at the summit — the local way up.
Skip the funicular queues and climb Monserrate the way locals do — on foot, at sunrise, in a small group of no more than 8. Led by a Bogotano guide who grew up in the shadow of this sacred mountain, this isn't just a workout: it's the authentic ascent, told through the legends, history, and everyday rituals that make Monserrate the spiritual heart of Bogotá.
We meet at the pedestrian entrance to the trail before the city wakes up. After a guided warm-up and safety briefing, we begin the 1,605-step climb to 3,150 meters. Along the way, your guide shares the stories most visitors never hear — from the sanctuary's origins to the local traditions still practiced today. We stop often for photos, catch our breath, and take in the panorama of Bogotá emerging below.
At the summit, you'll explore the sanctuary and gardens, enjoy a traditional Colombian snack, and take in one of South America's most spectacular city views in the soft morning light. Descend at your own pace on foot, or add the funicular for a scenic ride down (ticket self-paid, we help you arrange it).
Perfect for active travelers, curious culture-seekers, couples, solo travelers, and families with kids over 1.50 m tall.
