Begin your tour with a pickup from the Fairfield Hotel Embajada, designed specifically for passengers with a layover in Bogotá. From there, enjoy a panoramic bus ride to the city center, passing by some of the landmarks that define the modern side of Bogotá before entering the Historic Center.
Once in the center, begin a guided walk through La Candelaria, the colonial neighborhood that concentrates the foundational history of the city. Start at Plaza de la Concordia, a traditional market where you can try exotic and tropical fruits such as lulo, granadilla, and feijoa. Then, continue along the cobblestone streets to the Chorro de Quevedo, the place where Bogotá was founded in 1538 and today one of the most photographed corners of the center for its urban art.
Continue your walk, sampling traditional Colombian snacks and a cup of specialty coffee, while your guide explains how this area went from being the administrative heart of the Colony to the cultural epicenter it is today. The tour reaches Plaza de Bolívar, the political and historical heart of the country, and ends with a visit to a Colombian emerald workshop, where you will learn why these stones are recognized worldwide for their color and geological origin.
If you choose the Monserrate Hill extension, head up with your guide, who will stay with the group for approximately 1 hour, sharing the history and significance of this hill for the people of Bogotá. The activity ends at the top: you can stay for lunch or explore on your own, or go down with the guide, in which case the tour ends at the ticket office below.
