Embark on a challenging day hike to the Torres del Paine Base. Admire the stunning views of the park and the surrounding mountains. Enjoy convenient transportation from Punta Arenas.
Begin your day with a pickup from your accommodation in Punta Arenas. Arrive at the park and start your hike from Hotel Las Torres area. The hike is 9 kilometers long with an elevation gain of almost 900 meters.
The ascent can last about 3.5 hours on average, at a normal pace and taking the corresponding breaks. The last half hour is a slow progress due to a sector of moraine or medium-sized stones left by the glacial ice.
Once at the main viewpoint of Base Torres, you will have a good time to photograph the spectacular surroundings, and eat and hydrate enough to begin the descent. Between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. the entire group should arrive back in the van to begin the return to the city of Punta Arenas.
