Description
Explore waterfalls, volcanoes, and lakeside villages on a full-day experience that combines nature, heritage, and some of the most iconic scenery in southern Chile.
Discover the essence of southern Chile by exploring native forests, turquoise rivers, and lakeside towns marked by German influence, in a panoramic experience where lakes and volcanoes dominate the horizon for much of the route.
Designed for travelers looking for an intimate and authentic way to get to know the Lake District, the tour combines landscapes, local history, lakeside culture, exploration, and photography at a relaxed and contemplative pace.
The experience begins its scenic route in the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, along paths surrounded by forests with views of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. The first stop will be at 'Saltos del Petrohué', where you can walk along trails and visit vantage points to take in the emerald waters of the Petrohué River as it flows through ancient volcanic rock formations. You'll also be able to explore two easy trails and admire one of the most powerful natural landscapes in southern Chile.
We then continue to Todos los Santos Lake, where the Petrohué River originates. Here you'll have the option to board a catamaran for a scenic cruise surrounded by mountains, forests, and volcanoes that make up one of the most spectacular lake environments in northern Chilean Patagonia.
We will then continue to “Puerto Varas,” where you will explore its waterfront, vantage points, and historic areas with privileged views of the Llanquihue Lake and the Osorno Volcano, while discovering the influence of the German settlers who shaped the city's cultural and architectural identity.
Later, we'll visit Llanquihue, an old lakeside town where the Maullín River begins, allowing us to appreciate a more authentic and serene side of life by the lake.
At our last stop, we'll visit Frutillar, known for its heritage architecture, gardens, and lakeside cafes that create a unique atmosphere. Here you'll have free time for lunch, to browse local shops, enjoy the area's cuisine, and optionally visit the Museo Colonial Alemán and the Teatro del Lago, or simply walk and take pictures by the lake.
This experience is ideal for travelers who want to get to know the Lake Llanquihue basin through its landscapes, heritage, and local culture. Throughout the day, you'll visit some of the most representative places in the Lake District, combining nature, regional history, and moments of contemplation, accompanied by the explanations and recommendations of our tour guide to better understand the identity and traditions that characterize this area of southern Chile.
