Step into a cozy cellar at Avli, a charming restaurant in the heart of Malia’s old village, where your guided wine tasting begins with a warm welcome from a professional Sommelier. Your experience will start with visual evaluation—observing the color, clarity, and legs of each wine to understand its age and body. Next, you’ll move on to the olfactory analysis, where you’ll swirl and sniff to explore the complex aromas, from floral and fruity notes to earthy undertones. Finally, during the tasting phase, you’ll sip and savor each wine slowly, learning to identify balance, acidity, and finish. Each glass is accompanied by individual platters featuring premium Greek delicacies, many of which are crafted from our own products. The pairings will enhance the flavors and showcase the region’s rich culinary tradition. As you progress, your sommelier will share insights about the wine’s origin, local grape varieties, and ideal pairings—turning this experience into a true journey through the senses and the culture of Crete.
