Start your diving adventure with the SSI Open Water Diver Course at Manta Dive Gili Trawangan. This 3-day course is the ideal starting point for beginner divers and will give you the skills and confidence to dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres with a certified dive buddy.
Your course starts with a welcome orientation at Manta Dive. You will meet your instructor, complete the paperwork and medical form, and go through the schedule for the coming days. You will also receive access to the SSI online theory, which can be completed before or during the course.
On the first full day, you will begin with dive theory, equipment setup and pool training. In our training pool, your instructor will guide you through the essential scuba skills step by step, including breathing underwater, mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, safe ascents and descents, and what to do in common diving situations. The pace is calm and supportive, with time to repeat skills until you feel comfortable.
Days two and three are when you complete your four open water training dives around the Gili Islands. The first two dives are to a maximum depth of 12 metres, followed by two dives to a maximum depth of 18 metres. During these dives, you will practise your skills in real ocean conditions while enjoying the marine life around Gili Trawangan. There is a good chance of seeing turtles, reef sharks, rays, moray eels, cuttlefish, octopus and many colourful reef fish.
The course also includes knowledge reviews and a final multiple-choice exam. Once you have completed all theory, pool skills and open water dives, you will receive your SSI Open Water Diver certification. This is recognised worldwide and is equivalent to the well-known PADI Open Water certification.
This course is suitable for complete beginners, but you must be comfortable in the water and able to complete the required swim and float skills. If you have any medical conditions or take medication, please check the medical statement before booking, as doctor clearance may be required before you can dive.

- There is also an additional Marine Park Fee of Rp100,000 per person that need to be paid on site.
When you arrive on Gili Trawangan, you will disembark your boat at the main pier. Manta Dive is located 200m walking distance from the pier on your right hand side (as you stand with your back to the ocean). All you need to do is turn right on the main road as you exit the pier and you will see us 200m down that road on your left hand side.
