Description

Embark on a 5-day safari from Nairobi to Meru National Park, Samburu National Reserve, and Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Enjoy game drives, spot the Big Five, and visit the last two northern white rhinos.
Day 1: Nairobi – Meru National Park

Depart Nairobi early in the morning after breakfast and drive through the lush central Kenya highlands with scenic views of Mount Kenya, tea plantations, and local villages. Arrive at Meru National Park in time for lunch at the lodge/camp followed by relaxation before an afternoon game drive.

Meru National Park is one of Kenya’s most beautiful and less crowded wilderness parks, famous for its rivers, palms, giant baobabs, and as the home of Elsa the lioness from Born Free. Wildlife includes elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.

Enjoy your first safari searching for lions, leopards, elephants, reticulated giraffes, lesser kudu, and hippos along the rivers. Return to camp/lodge before sunset.

Day 2: Full Day in Meru National Park

Begin with an early morning game drive at sunrise when predators are most active. Return for breakfast and short relaxation before proceeding for another mid-morning game drive.

Meru is excellent for spotting leopards, elephants, cheetahs, rare antelope species, and beautiful riverine scenery. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park or return to the lodge depending on preference. Take a late afternoon game drive until sunset.

Day 3: Meru – Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, depart for Samburu through dramatic semi-arid northern Kenya landscapes. Arrive at Samburu in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.

Samburu is famous for the “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk. The reserve is also excellent for spotting leopards, lions, cheetahs, and large elephant herds. Game drives are conducted along the Ewaso Nyiro River where wildlife gathers to drink.

Day 4: Samburu – Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and later depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia. Arrive for lunch followed by afternoon activities.

Ol Pejeta is one of Kenya’s leading wildlife conservancies and home to the last two northern white rhinos, East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary, a chimpanzee sanctuary, and many plains game species. Take part in activities like rhino tracking, visiting the chimpanzee sanctuary, and an evening game drive. An optional night game drive is available at extra cost.

Day 5: Ol Pejeta – Nairobi

Take an early morning game drive with chances of spotting rhinos, lions, hyenas, elephants, and buffaloes. Return for breakfast and check out. Drive back to Nairobi with lunch en route, arriving in the late afternoon. Drop off at your hotel or the airport.
