On Day 1, travel from Kathmandu to Kohalpur, a long drive of approximately 10-12 hours. Head west, seeing views of major peaks, settling into lower country. On Day 2, continue from Kohalpur to Mangma/Surkhet, a long drive of approximately 8-10 hours. Continue west on better roads, reaching a major hub.
On Day 3, travel from Surkhet to Mugu (Gamgadhi/Talcha area), a challenging off-road drive of approximately 7-9 hours. The real adventure begins with rough, hilly tracks towards Rara National Park. On Day 4, hike to Rara Lake and explore. Enjoy a short hike (8km) from Talcha to the lake. Enjoy boating, walking around, and the pristine views.
On Day 5, return to Mangma/Kohalpur, a moderate downhill drive of 5-7 hours. Begin the journey back, enjoying the descending views. On Day 6, return from Kohalpur to Kathmandu, a long drive of 10-12 hours. Return on the smooth highway back to the capital.
