Description
Explore Bergen's dark history on a guided walking tour with The Bergen Historian. Visit sites like St. Mary's Church and Bergenhus Fortress, and hear stories of crime and punishment from a historian.
Step into the darker side of Bergen’s past on a fascinating walking tour through the city’s oldest streets and historic centres of power. Led by a trained historian, this tour explores how crime, justice, and punishment shaped the lives of ordinary people and the society they lived in.
Discover stories of accused witches, outlaws, political prisoners, and others whose lives became entangled with the law. Through their experiences, we gain unique insights into changing ideas of power, morality, and justice across the centuries.
The tour begins outside St. Mary's Church and concludes at Galgebakken, once the site of Bergen’s executions and a powerful reminder of the city’s legal past.
