Description

Discover the history and culture of Kampala on a guided tour. Visit the Mengo Palace, Gaddafi Mosque, and Owino Market, then stand on the equator and witness experiments that illustrate its effects.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before being picked up by your driver guide. Head to Buganda's Mengo Palace, your first stop. Walk around with the palace's cultural guide and learn about the 1966 attack under the orders of Idi Amin, which led to the departure of Sir Edward Muteesa II into exile. See the torture chambers where thousands of Ugandans lost their lives and the Kabaka's luxury cars.

Next, visit the Uganda National Mosque, also known as the Gaddafi Mosque, the largest mosque in East Africa and the third largest in Africa. Climb to the top of a 50-meter minaret tower for a panoramic view of the seven hills that make up Kampala city.

Continue with a downtown walk to the iconic Owino Market, which officially started its operations in 1971 with a total number of 320 vendors covering 7 hectares of land. Known for selling second-hand clothes, fresh fruits, and vegetables, the market is a bustling hub of activity.

After lunch, set off to Kayabwe via Masaka Road to the equator. Upon arrival, participate in experiments illustrating how the imaginary line divides the earth into two hemispheres, the northern and the southern hemisphere. Take photos to commemorate your visit before heading back to your destination.
