Arequipa: Santa Catalina Tour, Camelid View, and Chilina Valley Arequipa: Santa Catalina Tour, Camelid Viewing, and Chilina Valley

Tour the cloister of Santa Catalina, a 16th-century convent, visit the textile museum, watch llamas and alpacas, and see the Chilina Valley and the volcanoes from the Mariano Melgar Bridge.
9:00 am Once we meet, we will start walking with our tour guide from the main square to Saint Catherine's Monastery. We will enter the convent to begin our approximately 1-hour tour, during which we will be able to observe details of each room and the structures of this place that has more than 400 years of history. We will find Inca and colonial architecture, and we will also find paintings with the most representative works of that era.
Then we will walk to the Mundo Alpaca textile museum to learn about the different types of llamas and alpacas. We will learn to tell them apart, interact with them by feeding them, and our tour guide will begin to explain the process of shearing and spinning the fiber of these animals and also of the vicuña, one of the most representative. We will observe the ancestral weaving in real time, the wool dyeing process, and more.
We will have time to walk around and admire clothing and fabrics made from alpaca, llama, and vicuña fiber (optional purchase).
We will continue to the Mariano Melgar Bridge, from where we will have a panoramic view of the Arequipa Valley, where there are currently agricultural terraces where vegetables, potatoes, etc. are planted. Minutes later, we will arrive at the Chilina vantage point to take panoramic photos. We will also have a privileged view of the main volcanoes surrounding the city and the Chilina River.
We will have the option to do activities such as ziplining in the valley or have free time to contemplate nature. Next, we will head to the Yanahuara vantage point to see a clear example of Arequipa's architecture, represented by its colonial church and the arches that surround this beautiful vantage point.
After some time to stroll around and take pictures, we will return to the historic center, near the main square.
