Located on Lake Titicaca, the Chimu Floating Islands are an example of sustainability and living tradition that houses ancestral weavers. You'll participate in cultural experiences and mini workshops.
It's located in the heart of Lake Titicaca, 30 minutes from the city of Puno. The Chimu Floating Islands are an example of sustainability and living tradition.

Built with totora reeds, these islands are home to a community of ancestral weavers who have preserved their ancient art while acting as guardians of the ecosystem in partnership with SERNANP (National Service of State Protected Areas).

Their deep bond with the totora is reflected in their homes, boats, and artistic expressions, which have evolved from traditional Kesanas (house walls) to refined decorative and utilitarian pieces. Through sustainable tourism, they share their legacy with visitors, offering a cultural immersion experience in a setting of natural beauty and conservation. You'll participate in a mini totora weaving workshop, weave handicrafts, observe artisanal fishing, ride a totora raft, and harvest totora with the local villagers.
